A cette occasion, la griffe lance une campagne baptisée "Connectivity", dans plus de 75 pays.
Elle est incarnée par des figures emblématiques de la musique, des arts, du sport et de la mode, décédées ou vivantes. Ainsi, l'acteur James Dean, le musicien Sid Vicious, et le sportif Dwyane Wade font partie des égéries du centenaire de la marque. En France, l'actrice et chanteuse Jane Birkin a été choisie.
Le point commun entre ces ambassadeurs du présent et du passé est leur "vision optimiste de la rébellion", indique le communiqué de la marque. En Italie, l'ambassadrice est l'actrice Asia Argento, alors que le musicien Ian Curtis, chanteur de Joy division, est l'ambassadeur de la Grande-Bretagne, et Nina Hagen l'égérie allemande.
L'image de Converse s'est construite en un siècle, autour de partenariats avec de grands joueurs de basket et des stars de la musique. "Audacieuse et emblématique, cette campagne rend hommage aux personnages - du passé et du présent - qui repoussent les limites de la créativité, qui inspirent l'originalité et qui incarnent les valeurs de la marque" a indiqué Geoff Cottrill, responsable marketing.
