Le programme Converse 1HUND(RED) ARTISTS soutient (PRODUCT) RED, une marque créée par le chanteur de U2 Bono et Bobby Shriver (Président de Dette, SIDA, Commerce, Afrique) et qui a pour but de mettre à contribution le pouvoir du consommateur dans la lutte contre le SIDA en Afrique.
Une belle initiative économique
C’est une belle initiative économique qu’a lancé (RED). Sans faire appel aux dons, (RED) a trouvé le moyen de générer un flux durable de fonds issus du secteur privé pour le Global Fund (la plus importante organisation de financement de programmes de lutte contre le SIDA, la tuberculose et le paludisme). Les consommateurs achètent une paire de Converse, et, sans que cela ne leur coûte rien, des fonds sont reversés au Global Fund.
Plus de 30 millions de dollars mis à profit en Afrique
Plus de 30 millions de dollars ont déjà été mis à profit sur le terrain en Afrique. Un traitement anti-rétroviral a pu être fourni aux personnes séropositives, des programmes de prévention contre le VIH ont pu être financés, et des traitements à bas coûts nécessaires pour réduire le risque de VIH de la mère à l’enfant ont pu être prodigués.
Des chaussures en édition limitée
Artistes de renom, designers et musiciens du monde entier, tous ont mis leur talent au profit de la bonne cause. De Michael White (le frère de Dondi, le célèbre graffeur de la fin des années 70) à Dr. Romanelli en passant par Gary Koepke, les artistes ont créé des Converse originales et en édition limitée. Elles sont disponibles dans tout la France chez les revendeurs spécialisés et en ligne sur www.converse.com .
